5th Grade Hutchings & Latson Live Blog Event!

On May 16th, 5th graders from Hutchings "live blogged" with 5th graders from Latson. We followed our blogging and commenting rules, as Mr. Horne & Mrs. Cain (Latson's tech teacher) only approved comments that were appropriate and comments that stayed on topic. Thanks Latson for joining us today!

Parents, family members, & friends of our 5th graders, come blog with us! Our students have been working hard on their blogs and they are waiting for comments to come their way. Recent blog topics have been nutrition, NASA, earthworms, earthquakes & tsunamis, just to name a few.

Visit ANY student’s blog to add a comment. Visitors to these blogs do not need a special login or password. We ask that you simply type “Tyler’s mom” or “Mom C” when adding a comment on a blog. Be patient after submitting your comment. Your comment will not appear online until I have read it and approved it (yes, I have to approve every comment and post).

You are what you eat, right? Do you know how many calories would make a healthy daily diet for you? Use Mayo Clinic's Nutrtion Guide and find your guidelines for a healthy diet. Next, use The Fast Food Calorie Counter, to find the nutrition information from your favorite restaurant. Now, blog about what you've learned about a "healthy diet".

Chances are you noticed many earthworms crawling around on the sidewalk this morning as you got of the bus. Extra credit for anyone that can use KidRex.org and find out why worms come out onto sidewalks when it rains. Blog about it!

Another one of my favorite space sites, the 50th Anniversary of NASA, is an award winner. Use the KWL chart as you explore the site. Then, make a new blog post titled "History of NASA". In your post describe:

• What you already knew about NASA
• What you want to know about NASA? (Somebody might answer your questions)
• What you learned from the 50th Anniversary of NASA
