Blog Assignment #2

The recent earthquake in Japan measured 9.0 on the richter scale and caused over 10,000 deaths. The 2010 earthquake in Haiti measured 7.1 on the richter scale and caused over 200,000 deaths. Tsunamis followed both earthquakes. How is this possible? Why did the less powerful earthquake cause so many more people to lose their lives? What factors play a role in how many lives are lost in earthquakes? What did you learn in the stop disasters simulation you played?

Remember, half of your tried the earthquake simulation, while the other half of the class tried the tsunami simulation. Read at least 3 blog post from classmates that tried the simulation that you didn't (if you tried earthquake, read posts about the tsunami simulation). Add some comments to the blogs about what you learned from reading their post and ask any questions you might have.
